Story 7: Security Risks everywhere

So I wake up Thursday morning to the big PHP security flaw in the news. I had to work, so there was no time to deal with it then. That evening I started on how much of IronClaw needed updates.

The list was Docker Desktop, Tailscale, and Caddy. UniFi too, from the Emudhra certificate compromise. Baïkal for the PHP flaw, and Pi-hole needed updates as well.

I spent most of that night, and then the weekend, cleaning up and updating the various systems.

It exposed a real problem, though. AI is getting smarter. The good guys will use it to help, to build, and to protect. The bad guys will use it to tear things down and steal. AI has opened a door for a lot of people to do things they never could before, and that same door opens the rest of us up to more risk.

I’ve set two things up from here. First, stay on top of security news every day, and react when it touches my setup. Second, actually work on a local bot that watches security announcements. Not just an alert. A recommended fix.

We are going to need AI that can change network settings and security measures daily, hourly, maybe even every minute, to keep up with this. If any of you security people out there have advice, I would welcome it.

Still janky. Still building.
